Mount Alvernia Academy is pleased to offer Spanish in Preschool through Grade 6.  The goal of the program is to expose students to Spanish so that they leave the Academy having a fundamental knowledge of a language other than their own.  In an age and grade appropriate manner, students are introduced to basic vocabulary and grammar which becomes more advanced as they proceed through the grades.  The K-4 program focuses on basic vocabulary and simple dialogue.  In the middle school, students are introduced to verbs and grammar rules.  This knowledge is used to create simple stories and dialogues.  By the time a student graduates, he or she is able to read, write, and communicate in basic Spanish.  Language acquisition is enhanced by the use of songs, poems, games, and various multimedia, which reinforce class instruction.
