For the past seven years, I have been blessed to serve as the principal of Mount Alvernia Academy, an extraordinary Franciscan school community. Each day presents an opportunity to work with parents, students, and teachers who are dedicated to MAA’s mission “to share their gifts with others to make the world a better place.” Charged with the task of challenging students while simultaneously nurturing them, the teachers are both creative and innovative as they encourage the students to think critically, to reason independently, and to work collaboratively. Actively involved in the life of the Academy, our parents are a vital component in the education of the children. This partnership between school and home allows our common goal to be met—the success of the students.
As a school, Mount Alvernia Academy celebrates the uniqueness of each child as a gift from God. Embedded in all that we do is an abiding love of God and an active faith life. MAA’s well-rounded curriculum, interactive technology, as well as small math and reading classes enable the faculty to meet the different learning profiles of our students. Along with the arts and sports, these opportunities allow them to explore their creativity and curiosity to become confident young boys and girls.
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will have to make as parents. Please click through the pages of our website to learn more. Come visit us up on “the hill” to experience Mount Alvernia Academy.
