Why  I teach: Since childhood I have had a passion for helping and teaching others. As an educator, It is my goal to prepare students with the skills and motivation to make the world a better place. I am especially passionate about empowering students through literacy. By engaging with texts that explore diverse perspectives and various sources of information, they can become versatile readers and critical consumers of information.

Working in the library allows me to share my passion for literacy and spark a love of reading for students in Preschool through Grade Six. In the early grades, I love witnessing students' joy as they engage with thematic units through song, movement, and discussion. In the middle grades, we continue to explore thematic texts while developing library and research skills. In the upper grades, we delve into components of genre and deeply analyze informational texts. Across each of these grades, we create a community of lifelong readers and learners. One of my favorite events of the school year is the Scholastic Book Fair during which families volunteer to help spread the love of reading through brand-new books! Working with my partner, Ms. Frieswick has broadened students’ perspectives about accessing information.
