Music: Grades 3 & 4

The music room at MAA echoes with the joyful voices of children singing, moving, and creating. From Nursery through Grade 6, every student participates in a vibrant, discovery-based music curriculum that fosters creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of the arts. Rooted in rich choral traditions, folk literature, nursery rhymes, and traditional singing games, our program nurtures musical understanding while reflecting the spirituality of our Catholic faith.

Through active participation, students learn the essential elements of music — rhythm, melody, harmony, and expression — building a strong foundation for future study and performance.

Grades 3 & 4: Foundations of Musicianship

During these years, students embark on formal recorder study—an important milestone in developing music literacy and instrumental skill. Through focused instruction, they refine breath control, pitch accuracy, and ensemble awareness while strengthening foundational skills in sight reading, ear training, and rhythmic precision. As their proficiency grows, students begin to interpret written music with confidence and expression. They share their progress through performances at school events and Masses, applying their developing understanding of theory and musical artistry in meaningful, real-world contexts.
