Technology: Grade 2

Technology serves as a powerful educational tool at MAA. It does not drive our curriculum; rather, it enhances it. Used alongside traditional pencil-to-paper work, technology deepens understanding, fosters creativity, and supports collaboration. Beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through Grade 6, students build digital literacy and critical-thinking skills while practicing responsible and safe technology habits. The curriculum integrates typing, coding, and digital citizenship with hands-on experiences using GSuite and other educational platforms.

By second grade, students demonstrate greater confidence in applying their knowledge of computers and internet safety in Technology Class. They begin using Google Workspace for Education (GSuite) applications such as Docs, Sheets, and Slides to create and present simple projects. Lessons emphasize proper keyboard skills, basic coding, and the importance of digital responsibility. Students explore binary code, complete WebQuests, and learn about technology pioneer Grace Hopper, gaining appreciation for innovation and problem-solving in the digital age.
