Two - Time US Department of Education High Performing National Blue Ribbon School - 2015 & 2022!

Welcome Mrs. Mary Ferrucci!

We are pleased to announce that Mary Reardon Ferrucci has been selected as Principal of Mount Alvernia Academy. Mrs. Ferrucci has been the Director of School and College Counseling at Ursuline Academy in Dedham since 2009. Prior to that role, she held numerous school leadership positions, including Principal of the Sacred Heart PK-8 school in Weymouth (2003-2009) and Principal of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in Dorchester (1999-2003). Early in her career, she was a social studies teacher (Grades 5-12) and guidance counselor in parish schools in Dorchester, South Boston, and Quincy. Mrs. Ferrucci lives in Braintree with her husband Jed. Outside of school, Mrs. Ferrucci is a parish and hospital Eucharistic Minister. In addition, she has two certified therapy dogs, Jenny and Bette, and they do work with Old Colony Hospice. Mrs. Ferrucci likes to run, read, and is a huge fan of Boston sports teams.

Mrs. Ferrucci was selected from a competitive pool of candidates with profound experiences in school leadership, curriculum and instruction, and community building. Her demonstrated skills in supporting strong academic excellence, student well-being, and our Franciscan Catholic mission made Mrs. Ferrucci the perfect choice for our next school leader.

The timing of this announcement will allow Mrs. Ferrucci to work closely with Principal Barbara Plunkett, Vice-Principal Maureen McCafferty, and other members of the leadership team these upcoming weeks to ensure a smooth transition into the principal role. The official start date of the position is July 1st.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Ferrucci to our campus sometime in the near future to have the entire community meet her in person.
