The 2020 Green Difference Awards recognize Outstanding Energy, Environmental STEAM Education efforts led in Schools & Communities worldwide. Honorees include principals, teachers, advisors, citizens, schools, students, and school groups/clubs from across the nation and globe. MAA’s Science Teacher, Mrs. Maria Lyons, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award! 

According to Project Green Schools, the Lifetime Achievement Award is given to “a hero who has dedicated his or her life to Green Education.” Mrs. Lyons is undoubtedly a hero here at MAA and beyond. She has dedicated her career and her time volunteering to make the world a better place through environmental education. She has inspired MAA students to pursue studies in the sciences and has embodied the Franciscan spirit, encouraging students to care for the planet and learn more about the natural world around them. Congratulations, Mrs. Lyons!
