Author Emily Sun Li Visits Campus

During her visit, Ms. Li spoke with students in Grades 1 to 3 about her new book, “Mr. Chow’s Night Market,” inspired by real-life night markets in Taiwan. Our students were among the first to enjoy the book following its release last week.

Ms. Li shared that her dream of becoming an author started in first grade and encouraged students to explore their own voices in writing. Together, they read the book and explored Taiwanese culture, including cuisine like boba and dumplings. She also introduced metaphors, using examples from her writing to show how comparisons can make stories more engaging.

This hands-on experience complemented the writing skills our students are developing. We thank Ms. Li for sharing her creativity and Miss Smith for coordinating the visit.
