Welcome
Welcome from the Director of Institutional Advancement, Mrs. Mary Walsh
We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about our school! Mount Alvernia Academy is a Catholic co-educational school serving Preschool through Sixth Grade, enrolling over 300 students from 35+ communities in the greater Boston area. Situated on a beautiful campus in Chestnut Hill, the Academy is located directly across from the main entrance of Boston College. Mount Alvernia provides an academically challenging environment for students, one that nurtures their intellectual curiosity, stimulates personal growth, and fosters critical thinking. We encourage the moral, physical, and social growth of our students and strive to prepare them for life in the culturally, racially, and economically complex world that awaits them. As you begin to explore our website, I hope you will begin to see what makes Mount Alvernia a truly special place.
On this website, you will find information about our curriculum, our faculty, after-school programs, and all the many exciting activities that take place every day at Mount Alvernia Academy. The best way to learn about a school is to visit. We invite you to attend one of our Open Houses or to arrange a time for a personal tour of the school to see first-hand the stimulating and engaging program our faculty plan daily for our students. A good partnership between home and school begins when you understand our approach to education, and we recognize your expectations for your child’s education.
Our admission process is designed to help you get to know our school better and to decide if MAA is the right fit for your family. I look forward to welcoming you to Mount Alvernia Academy! Please feel free to contact me at
