Technology
Technology's goals are to develop critical thinkers and problem solvers whose technological skills enable them to be responsible digital citizens in the ever-changing world. Starting in Kindergarten, students learn keyboarding, are exposed to the Internet as a tool for content and communication, and are taught basic computer components and operations. These skills serve as the foundation for the students to learn how to code, which develops vital engineering skills. As a multi-disciplinary field, technology is embedded into the educational process rather than functioning alone. Authentic application impacts learning, allowing students and explore concepts and assimilate information. By the conclusion of Grade 6, students master many software applications, understand appropriate resources and apps for academic tasks, demonstrate proper citation and copyright procedures, administer an online community, create programs, collaborate digitally with teachers and peers, and are able to articulate security and privacy concerns related to Internet use.
